The Hidden Hollows and Dead Acres...the Haunted Forest, Ardmore LT and Parks and REc

October 18th, 2018 All Day - October 31st, 2018

ALT and Ardmore Parks and Rec are teaming up to put on a Haunted Forest at Regional Park as a fundraiser this October and we have lots of ways you can help! We’ll be having the Haunted Forest October 18 – 20, 25 – 27 & 31st. The Haunted Forest consists of two trails: The Hidden Hollows, the less scary trail for our younger guests, and the Dead Acres, the much more scary haunting experience. This is going to take a lot of people each night and a lot of supplies so check out the list below and see what you would like to commit to. To volunteer or donate, just message us here or call our office at (580) 223-6387.

Donations Needed:

Bottled water, food and snacks for the 70+ people working each night.

Any Halloween props (tombstones, ghosts, skeletons, body parts, etc…) you no longer want.

We’re still looking for a quiet generator of at least 5000 watts to borrow.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Forest Building Days:

Not just anyone can create the world of the undead. October 8th & 9th we will be spending all day setting up and creating the Haunted Forest. Set up is family friendly and needs all levels of experience. Let us know days you can come and closer to the actual days we’ll notify you of exact times we’ll be out creating the forest.

Actors/Characters: Characters needed:

52 per night, (Commitment, Hidden Hollows 5-10:30pm, Dead Acres 6-11:30pm). Act in the scenes and put your dramatic talents to work (following scripts and guidelines). There are normally between 2 to 4 characters per scene so you can sign up with a friend to help. You can act just one night or all the nights. Volunteer actors are required to attend orientation and dress rehearsal.

Tour Guides: 20 needed per night.

Don’t want to act? We need tour guides to lead the groups through Dead Acres and get them safely to the other side. You’ll wear a grim reaper robe and carry a flash light, no speaking is necessary. Great activity for friends, clubs or community service organizations. Guides are required to attend orientation and rehearsal. (Commitment, 6 to 11pm).

Technical Crew and Runners:

Help keep the show running smoothly from behind the scenes or operate special effects. Provide logistical support for staff as needed. Commitment: 5-11:30pm).

Carnival Workers:

Parks and Rec is having carnival games at the Pavilion and are still looking for people willing to run the games. (Commitment: 5-10pm)

Trail Security: 3 needed per night.

We will have 3 trail security people posted along the Dead Acres trail. No costume needed. Trail Security job is to help slow down the groups if getting too close together, maintain communication with the front of line for possible issues, and if there is a problem to help deal with any issues or escort troublesome or injured guests to the front.

Tear Down and Deconstruction:

Alas, all good things must come to an end. This is the part where we celebrate success and cry tears of nostalgia. This actually involves a good bit of heavy lifting and hard work, but is infinity easier with a good group of people. So grab a friend (just not only your grandma) and help break down and pack the props, walls and remnants of the haunted world that just rocked yours.
