- Given to a theatre that has been in existence for 3 years or less
- To encourage communities to start a new theatre in their area
- Must be producing at least two productions for two years
- Encourage a new theatre to become familiar with OCTA, continue to maintain OCTA membership and strive for the OCTAVISION or OCTA THEATRE OF THE YEAR
- First award to be given in 2013
- Given in uneven years
